Andy Wong is a senior technology executive with over twenty years of experience in growing businesses including both startups and multi-billion dollar international enterprises. Mr. Wong has served on the board of directors of five business entities in addition to other board observer and advisor capacities. His engagements have spanned across corporate venture capital, investment banking, mergers and acquisitions, strategic business development, general management, and operations in the following industries – medical devices, electronics, semiconductors, telecommunication, and optics.
As a Senior Partner at Sand Hill Consulting, Mr. Wong advises both the buy side and sell side on strategic initiatives, including business planning, fundraising, private equity, venture capital, and mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to joining Sand Hill, Mr. Wong was the Head of Business Development at Hoya Holdings, which is a US$5 Billion international conglomerate. In this capacity, he was responsible for deal sourcing, investment proposals, due diligence, investment funding, mergers and acquisitions, and portfolio management. Since joining Hoya in 1998, Mr. Wong held various senior management positions such as the President of Hoya Xponent, Senior Vice President of Strategic Corporate Development, President of Qstream Technology, and Chief Operating Officer of Hoya Corporation USA. Earlier in his career, Mr. Wong co-foundered and was Chief Operating Officer of STI.
Mr. Wong speaks fluent Cantonese and basic Mandarin. He has an international footprint with extensive experience in cross-border operations in China, Japan, Thailand, Canada, and the EU. He attended San Jose State University and there received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
