Claudia Fan Munce

Claudia started her career at IBM Research as an engineer- scientist and went on to hold many technical and business leadership positions, including founding the IBM Venture Capital Group and served as its Managing Director and Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Corporate Development M&A Group. Prior to that, she served as the head of the licensing and commercialization of IBM Research Labs.

While at IBM, Claudia served on the board of the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA), the Latin American Venture Capital Association, Women in Leadership in Private Equity in China, Canadian Innovation Exchange, Savannah Fund in Africa, and many other global venture capital organizations. After joining NEA upon her retirement as a venture advisor, she also currently serve as the chairwoman of the board of the Global Corporate Venturing Group, Advisor to the American Association for Advancement of Science, board member of Bank of the West / BNP Paribas Group, board member of Best Buy Corporation, an investor with Broadway Angels Group, and a lecturer at Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Claudia is well known corporate venture leader in the venture capital community. In 2015 the Worth Magazine named her as one of the 20 most powerful players in Silicon Valley and in 2016 she was named as one of the top investors to know by the INC Magazine.

Claudia was born in Taiwan and grew up in Brazil. She holds a master’s degree in Computer Science from Santa Clara University School of Engineering, and a master’s degree in Management from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
