John Yu is a founding partner of Oriza Ventures, an early stage venture capital fund focusing at technology and North America investments. Previously, John Yu was the Founding Partner and Managing Director of WestSummit Capital from 2010-2014, a growth capital private equity fund focusing on investment in technology sector primarily in North America.

Before WestSummit Capital, Mr. Yu co-founded two hi-tech companies in the US: ACD (Advanced Communication Devices Corp.) – a semiconductor device company focusing on networking in Silicon Valley; and Viaquo Corp. – an Internet security management software company in Silicon Valley; Mr. Yu also served as General Manager of AgateLogic Beijing China – a programmable semiconductor device company between 2005-2007.

Mr. Yu had also been actively involved with angel investment in early stage startup companies. Mr. Yu has nearly 20 years of technical and managerial experience in semiconductor and software. Mr. Yu holds several U.S. patents. He earned his B.E. and M.E. from Tsinghua University and his PH.D Candidate from University of Toledo.
