Prateek is a Principal at General Catalyst Partners where he focuses on investments in mobile, consumer Internet, SMB SaaS, commerce and financial services. Prateek is based in the firm’s Palo Alto office.

Prateek brings more than 12 years of operating experience to the firm and has been closely involved with investments in Flite, This Technology and ZenPayroll. Before joining General Catalyst, Prateek was Director of Distribution Partnerships at Square, leading many of the early growth partnerships for the company’s flagship products Reader, Register and Wallet. He was also responsible for launching Square’s first sales team covering a multitude of U.S. markets.

An executive at Time Warner Cable, Prateek went on to hold corporate strategy, product management and advertising sales roles prior to joining Square. During this time, he was responsible for structuring, negotiating and operationalizing high-profile digital monetization and technology platform partnerships with companies like Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft as well as many venture-backed startups.  Prateek began his career at AOL, where he worked on both paid search and display monetization, managed partnerships and helped generate multi-million dollar marketing opportunities for the company.

Prateek is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and International Business.
