Catherine Cheney is the West Coast correspondent for Devex, the media platform for the global development community. She reports primarily on the role of Silicon Valley in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. She has traveled from Haiti to Tanzania to Sri Lanka to find stories her audience can learn from as part of the Devex motto “Do Good. Do It Well.” Catherine also runs the Bay Area chapter for the Solutions Journalism Network, a nonprofit that supports and connects journalists who report on responses to social problems. She believes that the more complex the problem, the more critical the need for reporting on what is working, a message she has brought to the stage at events ranging from the South by Southwest Interactive to the Skoll World Forum. Since graduating from Yale University, where she earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in political science and graduated as a Yale Journalism Scholar, Catherine has worked for a range of publications including World Politics Review, POLITICO, and NationSwell, a media company and membership network she helped to build.
