Dmitry Alimov

Tech investor and entrepreneur, Dmitry has been investing in tech companies since 1999 and has backed over 30 early stage companies globally. The VC fund he leads, Frontier Ventures (www.frontier.ventures) invests in early stage Internet and Blockchain companies with network effects.

Previously, Dmitry worked as the Managing Partner of a leading global venture fund ru-Net Ltd known for its investments in Yandex.ru (NASDAQ: YNDX) and Ozon.ru. In 2009, Dmitry co-founded IVI (“Netflix of Russia”), which became the leader in the Russian speaking online video market with over 40m monthly users. Prior to joining ru-Net, he served as the Managing Director of Amedia – a leading Russian producer of television series and movies.

In 2004 – 2005, Dmitry worked for Access Industries as Head of Media Investments in Russia and the CIS. In 2001 – 2002, Dmitry worked as First Deputy General Director, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of the TV channel TNT and was also a member of Gazprom-Media Executive Committee. In 1998 – 2002, Dmitry was responsible for a number of venture capital and private equity investments as Vice President of the Sputnik Group, $1 billion private equity and venture capital fund. Dmitry began his career in the department of mergers and acquisitions of Renaissance Capital.

Dmitry received his MBA from Harvard Business School in 2004, and in 1998 graduated with honors from the University of Missouri at St. Louis (US), with a major in Business Administration (Finance). In 1991-1994, Dmitry studied applied mathematics and computer science at the Samara State Aerospace University.
