Doug MacMillan is a technology reporter for The Wall Street Journal in San Francisco, focused on startups and venture capital. Prior to WSJ, he was a reporter with Bloomberg News and Bloomberg Businessweek, where he covered Yahoo, Twitter and Facebook in addition to writing profiles of Mark Zuckerberg, Marissa Mayer, and Groupon’s Andrew Mason. His reporting on the high-profile IPOs of Zynga and Groupon required those companies to add disclosures to their prospectus documents. In 2009, MacMillan coined the term “app economy” in a cover story he co-wrote on apps. He began his career in New York as an intern at Rolling Stone.
