Kate Whitcomb

Kate is a Partner at HAX, the world’s first and most prolific hardware accelerator and investor, with offices in San Francisco and Shenzhen, China. HAX is a program of SOSV, a global venture capital firm with over $525M in assets under management. Kate is focused on investments in the robotics, enterprise, health tech and consumer spaces.

Before HAX, Kate spent four years with Target Corporation where she held general management roles overseeing over $500m in total spend. Most recently, Kate was the Innovation Lead for Target’s IoT team in San Francisco, where she focused on sourcing and launching hardware startups for Target. Through HAX and Target, she has helped over 150 startups raise money and go to market.

Kate is a mentor at Alchemist Accelerator, ReadWrite Labs, Target Takeoff and Scrum Ventures’ Nintendo Switch accelerator. She is also on the Advisory Board for Amazon Launchpad. Kate has spoken on the topic of launching products extensively around the United States, and her writing has been published in TechCrunch, VentureBeat and Tech in Asia.

Before Target and HAX, Kate was a strategy consultant in Boston and London focusing on M&A transactions in the pharma, retail and entertainment industries. Kate has her MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a BA in Economics and Art from Kenyon College.
