Matthew Davie is Managing Director at Kiva.org, where he oversees the company’s efforts to bring financial inclusion to the 3.5 billion un- and under-banked people globally. With operations in >80 countries, he is helping Kiva to find ways to use the existing data being produced in the unbanked world to build a platform that enables access to the trillions of dollars of idle capital in the international financial sector.

Before joining Kiva, Matthew founded and/or was an early-stage operator at multiple tech companies, including Breaktime Studios (SEGA of America), Playdom (Disney) and Whole Travel. He completed his undergraduate in Environmental Engineering at UC Davis and his Ph.D in the same from Stanford University.

In addition to his operating roles, Matthew is a frequent advisor and occasional investor with a focus on early-stage companies working to create entirely new industries. He has worked with companies such as Ockam.io, GimMe, Morf, Feed.fm, Simple Habit, Supercell, and King.
