Sonja Markova

Sonja Markova is Executive Director of the Band of Angels, the first angel investment group in the United States that has served as the model for many angel groups world-wide. Since 1994, the Band has invested in over 400 companies with 61 profitable M&A exits and 11 IPOs.
Previously, Sonja was Vice President of Point Reyes Management, an asset management firm where she sourced and evaluated early stage investment opportunities for the firm’s angel fund and made 15 investments in the period October 2015 to March 2016.
Sonja was a key person on the Keiretsu Forum team for 12 years, the largest worldwide angel investment network with 53 chapters on 3 continents. Keiretsu Forum’s members have invested over $400 million in technology, healthcare, consumer and real estate ventures.
She is an Advisor of Camp BizSmart, an innovative entrepreneurial summer business academy that provides teen students development of skills in entrepreneurship, finance, business plan preparation, presentation and execution. Sonja began her career as an Investment Associate with Republic of China’s ICDF Equity Investment Fund for small and medium-size enterprises in her home country Macedonia.
Sonja holds an MBA in Finance and New Ventures Management from California State University East Bay and BS in Management from the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje, Macedonia. She was the youngest recipient of a full scholarship from the U.S. Department of State under the Ron Brown Fellowship program that supports professionals from Central and Eastern Europe.
